Infused Water

I was recently at a hair salon and, while waiting, grabbed some infused water they had for their clients.  This was, hands-down, the best water I’ve ever had.  They had an infuser with blueberries and rosemary sitting in the large water dispenser.  I had to stop myself from drinking the entire thing.

Later that day I went out and got myself one of those nifty infusers.  You can find them most places these days, World Market, Sur La Table, Bed Bath and Beyond, Ross.  The one I got was a large glass container with a spout and a lid that has an infuser attachment.  I store mine in the fridge, but you could just as easily leave it on the counter if you prefer room temperature water.

With the abundance of stone fruit, melons, and berries, this is the perfect time of year for flavor-infused water.  All you have to do is pick a fruit (wash and chop it so it fits in the infuser), pick an herb, and add your water.  Experiment with different quantities of each to see how strong you like your flavors.  Try peach basil, blueberry thyme, melon rosemary, strawberry lemon verbena.  Smash your berries or leave them whole, crush your herbs or just throw them right in.  Get creative!
